The Original Patent For An Electronic Cigarette Filed In 1963

https://www.google.com/patents/US3200819

Proof that they were invented in 1963 by an American. When you click on the image and pull it up the original design is what we now call a cig-a-like, an ecig that is roughly the size and look of a real cigarette.  Can you imagine all the lives that could have been saved if this was manufactured in 1963? Why wasn't it manufactured? Well, some claim it was never put on the market because the price of a pack of cigarettes was under 50 cents in the 1960s. Supposedly a safer, electronic cigarette would not be able to compete in sales. However, I tend to favor the theory that big tobacco had a hand in hushing it up.
