The X-Files Reboot - Will There Be Hoodoo?

So FOX has confirmed it's in talks for a return of The X-Files. I'm ecstatic as it was my favorite show from the 90s. The return will be a limited series, probably consisting of 12 episodes. I'm crossing my fingers that they actually do reboot the entire series or do a full revival as I want it to continue long past just 12 episodes.

The X-Files had a episode called Theef (season 7, episode 14) which concerned a mixture of hoodoo and Appalachian folk magic. During one part of the episode, Mulder and Scully visit an occult shop to inquire about mysterious dirt found at the scene of a death. The shop owner informs them that the dirt is "goofer dust". The shop owner bore an interesting physical similarity to Cat Yronwode. I remember asking Cat if that character was based on herself. She said she didn't know officially but suspected that it was.

So I'm wondering if there will be any more "hoodo-esque" episodes. I'm not sure but the X-Files had quite a few occult-related episodes so I'm hoping to see more of that in the limited series.

Product Review - Vandi - Money Drawing Oil

Brand: Vandi
Type: Oil
Name: Money Drawing
Bottle: Square, 1/2 fl. oz (14ml) bottle
Color: Green
Label: ???
Link: http://www.grandmascandleshop.com/12ozoils.html

Okay, I'll be honest. I wasn't pleased with this oil. For one, it was missing a label. It just had a handwritten label applied to the bottle. Second, the dye used is too strong. However, the oil does have a nice clean fragrance with just a subtle hint of pine.

On a scale of one to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, I give this oil a 6.

Product Review - Vandi - King Solomon Oil

Brand: Vandi
Type: Oil
Name: King Solomon
Bottle: Square, 1/2 fl. oz (14ml) bottle
Color: Clear
Label: An image of a king.
Link: http://www.grandmascandleshop.com/12ozoils.html

I can't place the fragrance but it's nice. I really like this oil. Place some herbs and roots, such as Solomon's Seal in the bottle and pray over it and it would be perfect. The label is really nice. So far I'm extremely pleased with Vandi's line of oils. There are just so much better than Indio's products.

On a scale of one to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, I give this oil a 9.

Product Review - Vandi - Cleopatra Oil

Brand: Vandi
Type: Oil
Name: Cleopatra
Bottle: Square, 1/2 fl. oz (14ml) bottle
Color: Clear
Label: An image of Cleopatra.
Link: http://www.grandmascandleshop.com/12ozoils.html

Once again I am very pleased with Vandi oils. This oil has a nice rose fragrance and like with all of the Vandi oils, it's an actual oil and not chemicals used by other manufacturers. This oil would be good for love works and especially by women who want to invoke a more exotic sexual appeal and allure to potential mates.

On a scale of one to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, I give this oil a 9.

Product Review - Vandi - Come To Me Oil

Brand: Vandi
Type: Oil
Name: Come To Me
Bottle: Square, 1/2 fl. oz (14ml) bottle
Color: Red
Label: The silhouettes of a couple who are watching a sunset in the distance.
Link: http://www.grandmascandleshop.com/12ozoils.html

First let me state that I am highly surprised by Vandi oils. I was expecting around the same quality of Indio oils, but I was definitely mistaken. Vandi oils are nothing like Indio oils. For one, when you place some on your hands it's obvious this is actually oil and not the "liquidy", chemicals that Indio uses. Second, the oils is fragrant. This differs drastically from the very subtle scents used by Indio. In fact, some of Indio's oils, such as Seven Sister's of New Orleans Compelling oil, have zero scent. Third, the labels are colored and detailed, which differs greatly from Indio's black and white, simple labels. This particular oil smells like patchouli.  I was very impressed with these oils. Too bad that few places have them available online for sale.

On a scale of one to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, I give this oil a 9.

Former Winston Man Speaks Out On E-Cigs

I thought this was interesting and I thought I would post it. I'm a huge supporter of e-cigs. I smoked for 20 years until my uncle gave me a disposable e-cig to try. I liked it so much that I knew right then and there that I would quit smoking and I never went back. This April will be 2 years without a cigarette for me. I strongly encourage all smokers to give e-cigs a try.

A Couple Of Things I Thought I Would Share With Readers

As you may have read in a previous blog entry, one of my loved one passed away over the holidays. I debated whether or not to share the following but I ultimately decided that I should go ahead and share it.

Back in December I began to develop this obsession with Amaryllis plants. I bought almost a dozen of them and gave some away as presents. I kept remembering how a former teacher kept a beautiful red Amaryllis plant in her class and so I decided to purchase some. Here is a picture of some of them on part of my altar that I wasn't using at the time. I also purchased some Paperwhites bulbs as  I've never grown them before either.

They are such beautiful flowers and my altar feels so Spring-like. However, caution with the Paperwhites. They stink. In fact, the smell was overpowering and made me nauseous. Anyway, so I become obsessed with these flowers. At the same time I began to have the song Edelweiss constantly in my head. I would wake up in the morning with it in my head. I would constantly hum it during the day. I would even hum and sing it unknowingly while on the phone with friends. It was really strange.

When my loved one passed I of course went to the viewing before the funeral. When I walked into the room my eyes first fell on an Amaryllis plant that someone had sent. There in the room was a flat screen t.v. that was showing a video montage of pictures set to instrumental music. Guess what song was used? Yep, it was Edelweiss. I started crying because I knew right then and there why I had become obsessed with the Amaryllis and the song Edelweiss. I strongly believe I was being prepared for this loss.

Product Review - Indio - Double Cross Oil

Brand: Indio
Type: Oil
Name: Double Cross
Bottle: Square, 1/2 fl. oz (14ml) bottle
Color: Dark Green
Label: A man has fallen down and hurt himself while a black cat jumps over him
Link: https://www.wisdomproducts.com/product/indio-oil-double-cross/861

This is oil is an interesting one. It has a pleasant fragrance. It's supposed to be used when you want to "double cross" an enemy and to make sure you come on top. However, the instructions say to just anoint one's self. You can do that but personally I wouldn't. Some people would say to use it to dress gifts one is giving meant to cross up another person. This would be a sneaky way of working in which the person takes the fixed item meant to cross them up into their house without their knowing. This is a good use for such oil. However, I would strongly recommend to add herbs, roots and other items to the bottle before doing using it.

On a scale of one to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, I give this oil a 6.

Product Review - Indio - I Can You Can't Oil

Brand: Indio
Type: Oil
Name: I Can You Can't
Bottle: Square, 1/2 fl. oz (14ml) bottle
Color: Red
Label: A woman pointing at a man and sending him dominating powers of influence from her eyes
Link:  https://www.wisdomproducts.com/product/indio-oil-i-can-you-cant/899

This is a red oil. Quite frankly, I've had it up to here with the red oils from this company. The dye is too strong. It looks like blood on your hands and you can't wear it on your body.  It also stains clothing. I really would like to see this company tone down the use of dyes. It has a nice fragrance. Unfortunately I will have to toss it in the trash as it really can not be used for anything other than with candles.

On a scale of one to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, I give this oil a 5.

Product Review - Indio - Congo Oil

Brand: Indio
Type: Oil
Name: Congo
Bottle: Square, 1/2 fl. oz (14ml) bottle
Color: Pink
Label: Two shamans beating a drum and dancing in a jungle setting
Link:  https://www.wisdomproducts.com/product/indio-oil-congo/848

This is a typical pink oil from this manufacturer. The oil has a pleasant fragrance. I actually quite like this oil and I think the label is quaint. This oil is supposedly used when other oils have failed. It's supposed to be a "last ditch" oil for impossible situations. As such it would be good to use with St. Jude.

On a scale of one to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, I give this oil a 7.

I'm Back!

I hope all of my readers had a wonderful holiday season this year. I took an extended vacation from blogging and sorely needed it. My holidays were a bittersweet as I lost a family member. Funerals during the holidays are so tragic. However, I'm really looking forward to 2015 as I believe this year will not only be a prosperous one for myself but will also be a great year for most people. Remember to do your new year's cleansing/cleaning and prosperity work to kick off this new year right!
